What should I eat?
This is the most common question that always pops up.
We cover a lot of this in our induction but here's a quick recap 🙂
1- Success leaves clues. If you rewind the clock back 100+ years ago - there were very few overweight people and probably zero or very close to zero obese people. So what did they eat?
2- Meat, seafood, nuts, root vegetables, seasonal fruits etc etc.
3- The most simple way to look at what we should be eating (putting aside slight differences for individuals based on goals and individual biology. Each meal should have a protein source (meat, poultry, seafood etc), some veggies (think non starchy - greens etc), and a carb if you desire (rice, starchy vegetables like sweet potato, pumpkin etc).
4- If you want to lose weight faster, reduce or remove the carb source and slightly increase the protein and non starchy veg.
5- Is it simple? Yes! It's not a question of simplicity, it's a question of consistency.
6- Focus on quality first, then quantity. First make sure you're doing the above - then if you're still not achieving the progress you desire we'll look at other variables like quantity of food, training, sleep, food intolerances, etc etc
7- To sum it up - stick to the perimeter of the supermarket. If it comes in a box, it's a lot less likely to be something that you want to eat regularly.
Nutrition like most things is very nuanced when you get into the weeds but at it's core it's fairly straightforward 90% of the time.
I spent years studying these details both at university and in the real world since but I've found that more information is not usually what is required. It's usually more improved structure and improved psychology which leads to consistency. 💪
